I look around and see beauty everywhere! Woods & Water inspire expressive representations of pastoral landscapes in Pastel, Oil, Watercolor, Gouache or Acrylic. Often, I paint plein air on location. The paintings may motivate a nostalgic appreciation of the rural NY countryside and suggest a calm mood. We're living in anxious times and need to find a way to be in tune with nature. In this stressful world, don't we all need to find our own special place? I look to convey an emotion rather than merely render a perfectly copied photo. I carefully arrange temperature, and saturation to underscore the dominance of elements.
Interested in Art and Gardens, I attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. With my Graphic Design degree, I worked for many years as a Layout Artist in Retail. I regularly teach Art classes; at an Art Center, a local library and for artist groups. I continue to hone my skills as a student, participating in annual painting workshops. "HOME PORTRAITS" commission paintings and Illustrating book covers are two of my favorite specialties.
